The Lost Pensions: Settled Accounts of the Act of 6 April 1838
Published in Paperback by Willow Bend Books (December, 1996)
Author: Craig R. Scott
Average review score:

From the Publisher
In 1838 the U.S. Congress directed that money remaining unclaimed by pensioners be transferred by the agents for paying pensions to the Treasury, if the money had remained unclaimed for eight months. This book is a list of 16,000 settled accounts for pensioners or their heirs who were required to obtain their payments from Washington. Pensioners from the Revolutionary War, War of 1812, Indian Wars, and the Mexican War are included. Pension Officers from all over the United States forwarded their accounts. Since these records were collected and maintained by the Auditors, and not the Pension Offices, they have not usually been included in pension research. This work is a finding aid to 144 boxes of accounts located in the National Archives, Washington, D.C.

Love in Idleness
Published in Paperback by Little Brown UK Ltd (September, 2003)
Author: Amanda Craig
Average review score:

A perfect summer read
This book will appeal to those saearching for a classy romantic comedy. But between the jokes and the lyrical descriptions of Italy, as in Craig's other books, there are deeper questions being raised. The children in this updating of Shakespeare's Midsummer Night's Dream take on the role of the fairies. Is this because we need the raw energy and passion of children to really see things as they are? Or are they just meddlesome trouble-makers playing with potions and cobwebs? The characters fall in and out love - and most importantly, as with Craig's other books, seek to learn how to be true to their own best natures.

Macintosh 3d Handbook/Book and Disk (Mac)
Published in Paperback by Charles River Media (March, 1996)
Author: Craig Lyn
Average review score:

Fantastic!
This book covers so much general 3D information that it is a must-have even for people not using the Macintosh platform, assuming Mr. Lyn doesn't come out with others geared towards other platforms. This book is chock full of information, ranging from the beginning level to the advanced level. I have been involved with 3D for several years, and each time I read this book, I learn something new and valuable. The only area I can think of that is weak is the section on blobbies, possibly because there aren't many Mac programs support them yet.

Maryland Landscapes of Eugene Leake
Published in Hardcover by Johns Hopkins Univ Pr (October, 1986)
Author: Craig Hankin
Average review score:

A sensitive and intelligent look at the paintings of Leake
Craig Hanken has given us a magnificent book on landscape painting written as a reflection of how paintings and a body of work develop over time. As a former student of the artist, I am continually taken with Leake's ability to use a narrow palette of color, and sometimes the same landscape over and over, to express an amazing range and depth of feeling about the landscape. This book is a joy to read and to use as a resource - Leake explains his use of color and choice of locations in terms that the general specator can appreciate and the student can try an emulate. The numerous images are well chosen and well reproduced. A classic.
